How to hang a pinata

Once your pinata has been filled with treats, it's time to hang it up for the pinata game.

Select a spot that is in a safe spot so that it doesn't swing into anyone or anything while it is being hit. Typically, pinatas are hung from a strong tree branch, pulley style, so that the rope it is attached to can be pulled to move the pinata up and down. If you do not have a tree available, clothes lines and basket ball hoops make great substitutions. If you need, you might tie a rope from one side of the yard to the other (between two fences) and the rope can go over that.

Once the pinata has been hung make sure that it can be moved easily by pulling the rope attached to the pinata. Conversely, you can opt to just hang the pinata so that it can not be moved. This is ideal for very young guests that might have more fun hitting a stationary pinata.
